How to run and price AI assessments
An AI assessment is a paid diagnostic you sell to a business owner: you interview them, find where AI could save time or money, and deliver a report ranking the best opportunities. It applies AOA and stops at a recommendation: building the fix is separate work.
This page is for operators who sell assessments. It teaches the service. It is not an offer to assess your business.
Mini assessment and paid assessment
| Free mini assessment | Paid assessment | |
|---|---|---|
| Interview | 15 minutes | 45 to 60 minutes |
| Finds | One bottleneck, one fix | Three to seven AI opportunities |
| Follow-up | 5 to 10 minutes | 30-minute report review |
| Use it for | Your first one to three prospects | Every client after that |
How a paid assessment runs
1. Discovery call
Pull problems, don’t pitch solutions. Ask how yesterday actually went, which tasks they dread but can’t hand off, and where work waits on them. Record the call, because the transcript drives the next step.
2. AI analysis
Feed the transcript to Claude and ask it to identify where existing AI tools could save significant time. Review the output, add your own recommendations, and cut anything that feels like a stretch.
3. The report
- The workflows discussed and the top bottlenecks
- Three to seven recommended tools or workflows
- An effort-versus-impact ranking
- The assumptions behind each ROI estimate, using numbers the owner gave you
- A prioritized action plan
4. The review call
Walk through each recommendation and why it earned its place. Then ask which one feels most urgent, and whether they want to implement it themselves or get help.

Questions
What is an AI assessment?
A paid diagnostic where an operator interviews a business owner, finds where AI could save time or money, and delivers a report ranking the best opportunities. The recommendation is the deliverable, and the assessment does not include building anything.
How much should I charge for an AI assessment?
Corey started at $500, later sold them for $1,000, and now sells them for as much as $2,000. With no testimonials yet, he suggests starting at $1,000 and raising the price as your proof and delivery improve.
Should I do free assessments first?
Only for your first one to three prospects. A free mini assessment builds confidence, collects proof and leads naturally to paid work. Stop at the recommendation, and do not install anything for free.
Do I need to be technical?
No. You need to know the tools well enough to recommend them, and to ask good questions. Most recommendations are existing tools rather than custom builds.
What comes after the assessment?
The report often shows work the owner wants help with. That can lead to project work or a recurring AI Concierge engagement.
